Building Permits & Inspections

The City of Lodi contracts with SAFEbuilt for building inspection services. Most construction projects within the City require a building permit, a zoning permit, or both. Please contact the building inspector before beginning any construction or remodeling project.

The building inspector answers questions regarding building code interpretation, enforcement, and fees. Additionally, questions concerning City ordinances that relate to building inspection should be directed to the building inspector.

Review of the building permit application determines the building permit fee. Fee payments can be made at City Hall via cash or check during regular business hours.

Use the inspection line phone number to schedule an appointment for inspection. Contact the inspection line prior to 4:00 p.m. to schedule an inspection for the next business day. Inspections are available Monday through Friday.
